Even in the toughest of times that we now face, miracles sometimes do happen. Several years after it was scheduled to open, travelers will now have a new airport option in Germany. It has been delayed time and time again due to significant technical issues, but, it appears all of the problems have now been resolved. Germany’s Technical Control Board has finally given full approval. Flughafen Berlin Brandenberg Willy Brandt (BER) will open as of 31 October 2020. It will replace Berlin Tegel Airport (TXL) which currently is scheduled to close in November. Also, Berlin’s Schoenefeld Airport (SXF) will become “Terminal 5” of the new BER Airport. So, if you currently have flights booked to and from Berlin later this year, you might want to check which airport your flight will be in or out of.
